Clive Wright was born in North London and
raised in the countryside.

He left school at 17, fell into a succession of jobs which included
lifeguard, petrol-pump attendant and, during some particularly
hard times, barman, gardener, window-cleaner and driver.

The majority of his working life since has been more settled, in
the print trade.

The parts of his life not taken up with work have included motorcycles,
music and, of course, the rabid devouring of many, many books.

He has, despite all evidence to the contrary,
begun work on a second novel.
